The Ketchikan Youth Court Bar Association
Candidates for membership in the youth court bar association must complete a 9-week training program which prepares them for their roles serving as youth court defense attorneys, prosecutors, bailiffs and judges. Upon completion of the training program, candidates undergo the KYC bar exam, and those who pass the exam are then sworn in as members of the Ketchikan Youth Court Bar Association.
KYC Bar Association members are subject to the association’s Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics, have an annual obligation to complete not less than 50 hours of community work service, and receive continuing training as they hone their skills as advocates and judges in the regularly conducted KYC sentencing hearings. The Bar Association is led by officers elected by the membership and include a President, Vice President, Secretary, and a Board Representative. The Board Representative is a voting member of the Ketchikan Youth Court Board of Directors.
